Repair and Restoration
Simon Dubber trained as a violin family instrument repairer and restorer in Oxford. He has been working independently since 1990 and during that time has worked on thousands of customers’ instruments and bows at every level. Simon is a member of the British Violin Making Association. If you need to have your instrument repaired, Simon will be pleased to discuss the work with you and provide a free estimate. Local instrument collection / delivery may be available, subject to a charge to cover time and fuel costs.
Sales
Simon Dubber Violins stocks a good selection of violin family instruments, including double basses, together with bows, cases and other accessories. There is normally a range in stock from basic student level through to professional level instruments. Simon Dubber prepares all the stock personally with great emphasis placed on good sound production. Simon will discuss the various options available to the customer, after which the customer can try out the instruments in the showroom. Simon will be pleased to demonstrate the instruments if required.
Appraisals and Valuations
Simon Dubber is happy to appraise and value customers’ violin family instruments and bows, regardless of condition. He makes no charge for the initial consultation, but does have to charge for a written valuation. This can take the form of a short valuation, or a full assessment and valuation with photographs and measurements if required. Either of these may be used for insurance purposes.
